Microsoft Opens Cloud Center

It's supposed to result in next-generation connected devices and cloud data centers

Microsoft has opened a Software and Services Excellence Center (SSEC) in Taiwan to created business opportunities in cloud computing for itself and its 100-odd local hardware friends.

The thing is supposed to result in next-generation connected devices and cloud data centers.

Microsoft said it will license its patents and share its software development expertise with academic and R&D institutes in Taiwan.

Early cooperation with Quanta and Delta Electronics is supposed to have already resulted in a new generation of otherwise undescribed cloud servers and the first prototypes are supposed to be deployed at the SSEC later this year. Microsoft is also supposed to share its own data center expertise to help hardware manufacturers build container solutions in support of cloud computing.
