Rocket Fuel Hosts STEM After-School Program for Elementary School Girls at Its Headquarters

REDWOOD CITY, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/15/14 -- Rocket Fuel Inc. (NASDAQ: FUEL), a leading provider of artificial intelligence (AI) advertising solutions for digital marketers, is hosting a six-week educational after-school Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) class, in collaboration with the non-profit organization, KidsVision. The program is designed specifically for Hispanic girls in grades 3 to 5 from East Palo Alto, California elementary schools.

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, women hold less than 25 percent of STEM jobs in America, and the rate has remained stagnant over the last decade. Women also hold a disproportionately low share of STEM undergraduate degrees, especially in engineering.

Rocket Fuel's new after-school program helps young girls improve their academic performance by teaching and reinforcing math and science concepts through games, activities, and hands-on experience with guidance from various Rocket Fuel experts on staff. The program will continue on a weekly basis until mid-June, and a new class is expected to begin another six-week program at Rocket Fuel, later this year.

"Rocket Fuel strongly believes that sparking an interest in math and science in young minds will strengthen and diversify the future high-tech workforce," says George John, CEO and co-founder of Rocket Fuel. "This program not only shows girls that math and science can be fun and exciting, but that they can succeed and thrive in these fields for years to come."

The company's philanthropic program, "Rocket Fuel Gives Back," is committed to supporting the communities we live and work in -- locally, nationally, and internationally. We host employee volunteering events, food, clothing, and gift drives, and sponsoring various fundraising events that support youth-education programs, alleviating homelessness and hunger, and providing lower-income family assistance.
